CEO and Founder, ALTA
Paula Lucie-Smith, switched from schoolteacher to adult literacy teacher in 1990 and founded ALTA, a non-profit providing free adult literacy instruction. Paula’s literacy work has garnered a national award, a Caribbean award and an honorary doctorate (University of the West Indies). She presented at the 2008 UNESCO conference in Mexico.
The World Literacy Summit is an Initiative of the World Literacy Foundation, a global nonprofit organisation that works to ensure every young individual regardless of geographic location has the opportunity to acquire literacy and reading skills to reach their full potential, succeed at school and beyond.
