A passionate advocate for equitable education, Kimmell Proctor is dedicated to expanding access to high-quality learning opportunities for vulnerable communities. With 25 years of experience in literacy, strategic partnerships, and nonprofit leadership, she focuses on narrowing achievement gaps and empowering learners with the tools and resources they need to succeed.

Kimmell began her career in underserved classrooms, driving improvements in early literacy instruction—a focus she has carried throughout her career. She holds a B.A. in Government and a Master of Teaching from the University of Virginia.

As CEO of Beyond Literacy, she leads efforts to build strategic collaborations with community partners, funders, and families to advance impactful education solutions. Kimmell also serves on the Board of Directors for Philadelphia Works, Inc., working to align education with workforce development priorities.
