Jonathan Douglas CBE is Chief Executive of the National Literacy Trust. Previously he was Head of Policy Development at the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council. Prior to that, he was Professional Adviser for Youth and School Libraries at the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. He has also worked as a librarian and in children’s services for Westminster Libraries. Jonathan is on the Advisory Committees of The Booker Prize and the Fair Education Alliance, and he is a trustee for Gabrieli, supporting their music education programme. He has served as a trustee of World Book Day and a Non-Exec Director of the Money Advice Service. In 2020 Jonathan was awarded a CBE for services to education and in 2021 he was elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by Oxford Brookes University
